Jonny's Mom
My most vivid experience of being culturely different was the first time I sat down and talked to my best friend Jon's mom. Her name is Sherri and throughout the years we have got to know each other very well. Sherri loves to cook for us so when she would I would sit in her kitchen and talk to her. She would ask me about school and girls and what not, she always was so amazed by how the girls act in America. Sherri was born in Iran and was taught to cook and clean. She was arranged to marry Jon's dad when she was 19 years old. They soon after moved to America. So Sherri never experienced the freedom that children and young adults experience in the western culture. When I would tell her about the girls that I hung out with or the parties that Jon and I would go to she would just be in awe. She would laugh about it and joke with us but I could tell she didn't like how open the girls were allowed to be with the boys in American culture. I could always feel that she was uncomfortable when those conversations came up.

I have been with the same girlfriend for some time now. We met in early high school but we didn't start hanging out until October of this year. I have been with Whitney since November. The only times we ever fight is when I am crabby and pick one with her on purpose. Whitney is a very sweet girl. She can have a little bit of an attitude though, it is usually with me though. I am a very playful person and I enjoy poking fun at people. I mean it in a good humored way, and that is probably why we get along so well because she understands my humor and can give me some of it back sometimes. She goes to Winona State and I go here so we aren't sure where our relationship is going, but whether or not it all works out I have learned a lot about relationships and myself from being around Whitney.

Earliest Memory
My earliest memory is pretty imprinted in my mind. I have four brothers, but only one of them is full blood. He is just a year and a half older than me so we are very close. Our parents split up when we were young so it really forced us to rely on each other. In our moms old house in Fridley we had a room that had a futon and an old Original Nintendo system set up on an old t.v. I just remember playing two player Super Mario Brothers all day long. We mastered the game. He is older than me so he always got to be Mario and I always had to be Luigie. We fought a lot and we still do, but my fondest and earliest memories of my childhood and my life will always be of me and my older brother.
